Moving
house: finding a conveyancing solicitor
Autumn 2003
Moving house can be a legal minefield. One of the hardest
decisions to make is which solicitor will deal with the legal
side of your move. There are many firms of solicitors, but
how do you decide? It’s not as if you can try each one, as
most people move house only about once every seven years.
Most people want value for money as well as efficient, good
quality service. Clients of Piers Propert Solicitors have
discovered the firm provides both of these. Recently, a client
wrote to the firm and said: “people want a fair job at a
fair price, and you do just that”, adding “it is hard to
imagine how the service could be improved”.
The firm does not have the expensive trappings of a high
street office. Instead, it is established in the Monmouthshire
countryside, so clients can leave behind the packing cases
and enjoy the tranquillity. Alternatively, Piers and Jane,
the firm’s two solicitors, are willing to visit clients at
home, at any time and at no extra cost.
Piers Propert, the principal of the firm, has over 35 years
of property experience, advising on domestic conveyancing
and commercial property law. He believes in the use of technology
to provide an efficient and cost effective service.

“My practice uses cutting edge technology, so
we can receive search results online in 10 minutes and review
all matters on a daily basis. Time-saving technology gives
my staff more time to deal with all aspects of a client’s
house move and smooth out any hiccups before they occur.
“ When Jane or I first speak to a client, we will discuss how they would like
to proceed and ensure their needs are met. We try to build a personal relationship
with our clients so they feel they can pick up the phone at any time, knowing
they will get a prompt, personal response.”

“People say there is always room for improvement,
but in you case we are not sure we agree. We are delighted
with the service you offered.”
“ I think you will have some trouble getting rid of us as a client, and we will
certainly turn to you whenever the need arises.”
